Maui Divers Jewelry x Nā Wai ʻEhā 2021 GRAMMYs Collaboration

Maui Divers Jewelry and Hawaiian music group, Nā Wai ʻEhā, announce their jewelry collaboration for the 2021 GRAMMYs. The local quartet, Nā Wai ʻEhā, is comprised of two sets of brothers who grew up on the Island of Maui where Maui Divers Jewelry story also began. The local Hawaiian jeweler is proud to continue their message of "Artists Celebrating Artists" which began at the 2020 GRAMMYs. This is the very first-time Nā Wai ʻEhā has been nominated for a GRAMMY and they are excited to represent Hawaiʻi this year with custom pieces by Maui Divers Jewelry. Their album "Lovely Sunrise" will compete amongst 4 others in the Best Regional Roots Music category at the 63rd annual GRAMMYs.

Inspired in Hawaiʻi

Creating unique pieces to represent Nā Wai ʻEhā became very important during the initial designs. The key was to find a unique way to represent their home Island of Maui.

"Nā Wai ʻEhā," which translates to "The Four Waters," represent the Waikapū, Wailuku, Waiʻehu, and Waihe'e rivers on the gorgeous Island of Maui and the four brothers. Together with Maui Divers Jewelry, they created showpieces to represents "The Four Waters" and Maui in a beautiful way.

The original designs took a dedicated team of Maui Divers Jewelry designers to create. Each of the four medallions features intricate cut pieces of Hawaiian black coral and turquoise. Each piece was individually cut and carefully crafted together to ensure a precise fit for the medallions.

Designed in Hawaiʻi

The significance of Hawaiian black coral originates from Maui Divers Jewelry and the brothers' home Island of Maui. Maui Divers Jewelry was the first to discover Hawaiian black coral off the coast of Lāhainā, Maui in the Molokaʻi channel back in 1958. Hawaiian black coral serves as a meaningful symbol of the company's history, which can be found in their logo and Heritage Collection. Today Hawaiian black coral serves as the state gem of Hawaiʻi.

The final gemstone featured on the special medallions is turquoise. Turquoise further represents the group as the "The Four Waters" of Maui as well as each brother of Nā Wai ʻEhā.

The final designs to be worn for the 63rd annual GRAMMYs is a meaningful representation of Nā Wai ʻEhā and Hawaiʻi. All created locally at their Design Center in Honolulu, Maui Divers Jewelry is honored to be allowed to continue their message of "Artists Celebrating Artists," which started with local Hawaiian artists Kimié Miner and Amy Hānaiali‘i.
